For 60 years, camels, ostriches and even zebras have come to Virginia City for the annual International Camel & Ostrich Races. This hilarious annual tradition dates back to the 1950s and features jockeys precariously perched on their beasts as they maneuver the track at high speeds. The goal? A win and accolades from the cheering crowd – all surrounded by this historic mining town.
