A classic high desert course, the Sierra Sage Golf Course is home to 18 championship holes of golf and conveniently located just north of downtown Reno. The front nine at Sierra Sage were built by the U.S. Air Force in 1960 for use by military personnel assigned to the Stead Air Force Base. Washoe County purchased the course in 1966, when the base was phased out, and added the back nine in 1970. The lovely public golf course boasts some of the most competitive green fees in the area, making a round at Silver Sage an unbeatable value. Measuring just over 6,600 yards, the par-71 course features generous fairways lined with native vegetation, small, quick greens and water elements incorporated on four holes. The Sierra Sage Golf Course is beautifully maintained and promises the casual player an enjoyable round of golf at a fantastic value. Practice facilities at Sierra Sage Golf Course are well-maintained and include an all-grass driving range, two putting greens and a bunkered chipping green. Golfers looking for assistance on their game will find PGA professionals on staff for individual lessons and clinics. The Silver Sage course is also home to a locals' favorite restaurant and bar.
